Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH, opened to the public in 2001 and currently welcomes 500,000 event-goers each year at roughly 120 events. Whether it’s East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) games, popular concerts, theatrical performances, trade shows, robotic competitions, regional graduations or political rallies, the arena regularly hosts crowds of 11,000+ people, depending on the event. The venue features concession areas and private suites in addition to its NHL-sized ice rink.
When choosing building materials to outfit the space, architects and arena officials considered the impact heavy foot traffic would have on the facility. Selected for its ultra-durability and simple maintenance regimen that omits the need for stripping and waxing, norament® grano appears throughout two main concourse levels. “The floor is important, as it is what all patrons see. The appearance and durability of the main flooring is key to a successful operation,” says Mike Deyermond, operations manager.
As an added benefit, the flooring’s slip resistant properties help ensure patron safety. After 15 years, the floor continues to perform and provide maintenance time and cost savings. “Overall, the floor has been very cost efficient,” says Deyermond, ”as the durability of the floor has exceeded expectations, reducing cost measures for replacement.”
