Spauldings Library in District Heights, MD, is one of 19 library branches in the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) and was recently renovated as part of a series of renovations completed by the county. As part of the project, the library sought to replace VCT to upgrade the maintenance regimen and update the look of the library.
When renovating the Upper Marlboro Library branch, the first in a series of renovations, PGCMLS performed a test installation, installing a small quantity of nora® flooring outside restrooms and in a back hallway. Impressed by the floor’s low-maintenance capabilities, custodians and administrators decided to incorporate nora flooring in upcoming renovations. For the Spauldings branch, PGCMLS added norament® grano in meeting rooms, conference rooms, the staff lounge, entryways and various public areas. Staff members soon experienced reductions in the frequency of maintenance and the amount of time required to keep the floors looking vibrant and inviting. They also reported better acoustics throughout the areas in which the flooring is installed – an important feature that ensures the comfort and concentration of library patrons.
