Northeastern University, located in Boston, MA, is a private research university that offers a broad mix of experience-based education programs to undergraduate and graduate students. Recently, the university renovated a facility located at 140 The Fenway, which is used by Northeastern’s Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Much of the research conducted there is dedicated to the characterization of small and large molecules.
The renovation of 140 The Fenway building on the Northeastern University campus was a gut-renovation of a research space that houses laboratory equipment and resources. This core facility gives students and other research institutions and corporations throughout the Boston area access to execute research with regard to protein biomarkers for diseases, biotherapeutics, quantitation of environmental toxicants and structure identification among other topics. Based partially on the architect’s recommendation, building officials selected norament® grano for the lab space, due to its resistance to chemicals, durability and efficient maintenance requirements. Additionally, some researchers are often on their feet conducting tests, so the flooring provides them with the underfoot comfort needed to successfully execute research. The performance of the flooring has been very positive, as there have been no color changes or indentations on the floor, thanks to its durable structure. Even in a place with exposure to a variety of chemicals and organic solvents, the lab at 140 The Fenway is maintaining its sophisticated look and high performance, allowing research to be executed without disruption.
