nora® floors help hospital’s new patient tower fulfill its vision

Challenge: Officials at Deaconess Gateway Hospital wanted a floor covering that would be durable and easy to maintain and also support its patient-centered vision.

When Deaconess Gateway Hospital started planning construction of its six-story patient tower, Facilities Manager Kim Mans launched a major research project to learn more about healthcare flooring. “I spent a lot of time and energy trying to figure out the best solution,” she says.

After visiting facilities throughout the region and talking to colleagues at other medical centers, she chose nora® premium rubber flooring to achieve the results she was looking for and to fulfill the Deaconess Gateway’s mission of putting “people at the center of everything we do.”

That decision has benefitted the key stakeholders: patients, caregivers and maintenance staff alike. “As our nurses age, nora rubber flooring is better on their legs, since they’re working 12-hour shifts,” she adds.

In addition, the environmental staff appreciates the simple maintenance regimen. And patients sleep better because of the superior acoustic properties of rubber flooring. The facility also was able to overcome issues with residual moisture by using nora® nTx.
