Norwalk Community Health Center (NCHC) in Norwalk, CT, is a Federally Qualified Health Center that serves more than 11,000 patients and experiences over 42,000 medical visits per year. A unique design team that featured an architect, a graphic designer and a children’s book illustrator worked collaboratively to develop an inviting space that would provide comfort from both an aesthetic and physical standpoint for patients and families.
At the recommendation of the architect, NCHC used noraplan environcare™ in corridors, patient rooms, nurses stations and the main lobby to achieve the functional and creative needs of the facility. With carpet and vinyl tile installed throughout their old facility, NCHC chose nora to not only brighten up the new space and make it more inviting to patients and families, but also to provide staff with the underfoot comfort and low-maintenance requirements that contribute to a pleasant working environment. noraplan environcare’s extensive palette of 48 colors also offered versatility for the design team while supporting a requirement paramount to NCHC -- to use materials that were comfortable, durable and easy to maintain to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the center.
