Health centre: specialist in epilepsy

The SEIN health centre is a centre of expertise in the field of medical, paramedical, behavioural and psychosocial epilepsy care.

The various services offered at the health centre focus on diagnostics, treatment, support, training and education. These services have been offered for many years to clients living at SEIN, they are now available to everyone, whether or not they are client of SEIN.

Professionals provide substantial epilepsy care to children, adults and elderly people with epilepsy or other neurological disorders. They also offer support for mental and/or physical disabilities, acquired brain injury or psychiatric disorders. The professionals collaborate extensively with one another.

Rubber floor covering with many benefits

According to the clients and architects requirements, the floor covering has to be of the highest quality and have a modern appearance. This is why the decision was made to install noraplan valua rubber floor covering with organic structure. “It was important to us that the result radiated a high-quality, chic ambiance – not directly luxurious, but stylish.” It all starts with the choice of construction materials,” says Martin Slaager, Manager Real Estate & Facility.

In order to meet these high requirements, SEIN chose the rubber floor covering and stair treads of nora flooring systems.

The health centre is designed as an energy-neutral building; the materials were intentionally selected on the merits of their sustainability. In addition, we opted for a floor covering that would be hard wearing when faced with years of intense use and would not require replacement or refurbishment.”

Easy and cost-effective cleaning

Because of their dense, closed surface nora’s rubber floor coverings are extremely hard-wearing, manageable and are low maintenance they are easy to clean even after years of use. Furthermore, in contrast to other elastic floor coverings, they do not need a coating. This option is also a cost-effective solution in the long term, as 90 percent of the lifecycle costs for floor coverings can be attributed to maintenance costs.

No phthalate plasticisers

nora rubber floor coverings do not contain PVC, phthalates plasticisers or halogens. They are environmentally friendly and remain dimensionally stable throughout their period of use. Consequentially, nora products guarantee a healthy interior climate, as a result of which they had the very first elastic floor coverings that were awarded the “Blue Angel” environmental seal in 2006.

Outstanding hygienic properties

The rubber floor coverings are also impressive in terms of hygiene: They are insensitive to dirt and are resistant to surface disinfectants. In addition, short-term contact to solvents, diluted acids or alkalis leave no traces or residue. Even household disinfectants containing iodine/ chlorhexadine can be easily removed without any residues.

The new health centre is well received: “We get plenty of compliments from our patients and staff,” confirms Martin Slaager. Healing Environment – has been a motto for years when it comes to new builds and renovation in the healthcare sector. And SEIN is a true follower of trends in this respect.
