The event welcomed more than 70 interior designers, architects and customers to network with peers, experience the beauty of the conservatory and learn more about the advantages of rubber flooring and noraplan valua. First introduced at the Healthcare Design show last November, noraplan valua is a rubber floor covering that carries the outside elements of nature indoors while focusing on patient-centered environments and meeting the combined values of ultra-durable performance and well-being for today’s healthcare industry.

Attendees visited stations set-up throughout the conservatory that highlighted key advantages of noraplan valua, including acoustics, comfort underfoot, safety and sustainability. Those who visited the stations to learn more about noraplan valua were entered into a drawing to win a trip to a future Design Workshop, to be held at nora world headquarters in Weinheim, Germany. nora’s Design Workshops are held periodically at varying locations around the globe to gather direct feedback and input from nora’s customers. As part of nora’s new product development process, the workshops encourage architects and designers to offer their insight and expertise, work collaboratively with nora to identify design trends and provide direction for product development.

The event at the conservatory kicked off with two informational sessions that featured keynote speakers Jan Stensland, founding principal at Inside Matters, and Aileen Avila-Banaag, associate interior designer at SmithGroupJJR.

Stensland addressed the importance of sustainability in healthcare and how the built environment impacts and influences outcomes. Through her company, Inside Matters, Stensland provides indoor environmental quality and sustainable design consulting, education and research to corporations, government agencies, manufacturers, health care institutions and universities.

Avila-Banaag discussed the benefits of setting material standards for healthcare organizations. Avila-Banaag frequently collaborates with manufacturers, including nora, on product development and evaluates furniture and finish standards for healthcare organizations.

“Both speakers shared important insights that support the philosophy behind noraplan valua,“ said Tim Cole, vice president of marketing. “Inspired by nature, noraplan valua is a versatile floor covering that beautifully meets the changing and challenging demands and standards unique to healthcare spaces.”
