nora® Flooring introduces new Revit Materials Library

Salem, NH (February 16, 2012) – Designed to help architects and designers create more detailed, accurate renderings, the new Autodesk® Revit® Architecture materials library from nora systems, Inc. makes it possible to incorporate nora® flooring into their 3D designs.

“Our new Revit flooring library allows designers to insert nora flooring into their designs to bring their vision to life long before installation happens,” explained Amy Bostock, manager, marketing and creative services, nora North America. “In developing this resource, we worked together with architects and designers to ensure that it would address their needs and help them achieve the details in their projects that make them feel comfortable and prepared.”

The nora Revit materials library allows users to incorporate nora floor coverings, including tiles and sheet goods, into their Revit projects. With over 300 variations of nora rubber flooring in different colors, styles and textures, the application’s scalable capabilities enable architects and interior designers to explore and visualize design options more quickly. They can insert nora flooring into their project, zoom in for accuracy and see the intricate details of the flooring. They can also zoom out for a higher-level overview of the entire space and output realistic 3D renderings to share with clients.

“We developed these Revit resources in response to requests from architects and designers for a tool that makes it easy for them to experiment with designs and color schemes early in the design process. We are proud to offer this new application support that helps address their needs and instills confidence in the flooring selections they make,” added Bostock. “In addition, we know Revit provides a higher level of detail and ultimately contributes to a more accurate project installation.”

To develop the revit materials nora enlisted the services of Chris Dawson, George Gard, and Dave Franknecht of Chris Dawson Architect in Harrisburg, PA.

As president of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) of Central Pennsylvania, Dawson has seen Revit Architecture emerge as the industry standard in 3D rendering. "Revit Architecture is the tool of choice for serious professionals," Dawson said. "One advantage of Revit is that project file stores a complete record of properties needed to write a spec and publish a materials list. Things like material size, thickness, swatch number, sound absorption and other properties are embedded."

Kacey French, AIA, president, CorrellTech, LLC, York, PA, agreed to be the first to test the Revit library. She recognizes the importance of incorporating technology into design.

“When specifying products for installation on a project, a key criteria is the availability of Building Information Modeling (BIM) parametrics,” explained French. “By making their product lines available as Revit libraries, nora systems, Inc. provides the resources I require in my design process. As the building industry adopts new technologies related to BIM, it needs more manufacturers like nora leading the way.”
